About our conductor

Tony Margeta (b. 1972) grew up in Gothenburg. He started his musical career in Gothenburg Boys Choir at the age of 7. He was a member this choir 1980-1993.  Duing the three last years he served as assistant conductor. On initiative of the conductor of the choir at the time, Birgitta Persson, Tony started his training in choral conducting.  After leaving the boys choir he started studies at the School of Music and Music Education at Gothenburg University to become a music teacher. Tony has studied choral conducting for Mats Nilsson (Stockholm Bachchoir) and Mats Paulsson (The Male Student Choir of Lund). He has also received training from Swedish choral legend professor Eric Ericson (Eric Ericson Chamber Choir).  During 2004-2006 he studied to get a diploma as a choral instructor at the  School of Music and Musical Education at Gothenburg Univerity for among others Jan Yngwe (Chamber Choir Pro Musica) and professor Gunnar Eriksson (Gothenburg Chamber Choir and The Rilke Ensemble).

In 1993 Tony founded Gothenburg Girls Choir and he was the conductor and artistic leader of this choir until 1998. During 1996-2001 he was the conductor of The Female Choir of Chalmers Technological University. On several occasions he particpated successfully in national choir competetitions with this choir. Between 1998-2003 he lead Unikorus - the mixed choir of Gothenburg University. With this choir he made concert tours outside Sweden and a number concerts together with popular Swedish artists like Tommy Körberg and Anna-Lotta Larsson. During 2000-2005 he was the principal conductor of Lerum Vocalis. In 2003 Tony founded Chamber Choir Vox Magna  in Gothenburg. With this choir he won one of the categories in the Helsingborg International Choir Competition in May 2004. He left Vox Magna during 2005. Since January 2004 Tony is the conductor and artistic leader of Falun Chamber Choir. The prominent positions that Falun Chamber Choir acheived in the International Choir Competition April 2006 in Riva del Garda in Italy is the latest addition to Tony's successful carreer taking part in competitions.  Since the summer of 2005 Tony lives in Falun. He works as choral instructor and  music teacher at The Fryxell  School in Västerås.
